This is the point I realized our renovation had become a restoration. Each door was carefully removed, sanded, rotted parts replaced, splits and cracks sealed and re-surfaced, then the entire door was carefully re-painted with all final coats done after being re-hung.
These doors had received over 120 years of use with only an occasional new coat of paint – so to return them to their former glory, full restoration was in order.
